Simple Truth of Christmas

It's easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas in the hustle and hurry of the season. Maybe these few words from the Bible will help us see the face of God.

"And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth.... From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace. The law came through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known." (John 1:14-18)

"Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." (John 3:17)

"But the angel said to them, Do not be afraid: for see -- I am bringing you good new of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior who is the Messiah, the Lord." (Luke 2:10-11)

"But just when he had resolved to do this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:20-22)

The simple truth of Christmas is that God became a human being to help us because he loves deeply and dearly.
