Oreo

Operation Oreo 2019 kicks off June 1!

10 years: 30 TONS of cookies

Each year during the month of June, Alpharetta Methodist, members of area United Methodist Churches and patriotic citizens collect Oreos to send to members of the armed forces who are deployed in dangerous spots around the world.

Operation Oreo always culminates with a standing-room-only patriotic worship service — on the Sunday before Independence Day — with stacks of Oreos surrounding the altar. The choir and orchestra play patriotic music, and military veterans are recognized.

Since 2009, Alpharetta Methodist — with the help of the community and United Methodist Churches in the North Georgia District — has sent 30 tons of Oreos to service members deployed around the globe. Read the story behind the Oreos.

You can help! Operation Oreo is one small – and easy! — way to say thank you to the brave men and women who sacrifice so much to keep us free, and to let them know they are in our constant prayers.

"Thanks for the Oreos!!!!! All the way from Kuwait!"

To all who participated in sending the Oreo care package,

We enjoy reading the notes and eating the cookies. It’s special to know that people in the US are thinking about and praying for the Navy. Seeing the drawings and children’s notes really put a smile on our faces. Thank you.
