Daily Dose — Witness, July 14

A person’s body…has many parts. Though there are many parts to a body, all those parts make only one body. Christ is like that also….  We were all baptized into one body through one Spirit. And we were all made to share in the one Spirit…. If each part of the body were the same part, there would be no body.  But truly God put all the parts, each one of them, in the body as he wanted them…. Together you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of that body.   1 Corinthians 12:12, 13b, 18-19, 27   Do you enjoy witnessing to others about your faith? Does it come naturally to you to have an open conversation with other individuals, especially non-believers, about what you believe? To me, witnessing is the most challenging of the 5 church membership vows. I am an introvert by nature, and faith feels like a very personal thing to me -- so I find witnessing, in the traditional “talk to strangers about your faith” sense, fairly impossible to do. However, I find that standing in the front of the church, singing and sharing what a song means to me personally, feels much more natural. Others might think that sounds like the worst possible experience they could imagine -- and I think that’s awesome. I am continually amazed by the way God has made each of us as individuals with different strengths and comfort zones -- and He uses us all together, as one body, to further His kingdom. Find your own way to witness to others about your faith, one that fits your personality and how you prefer to interact with people. If you are not the type of person who is going to shout about your faith, consider sharing with others one-on-one in more personal and intimate conversation. Or if you want to sing about God’s faithfulness in your life, join the choir and make a joyful noise! Just take one step, and then another, on faith that God will have your back. As you are faithful to your vow, He will be faithful to carry you through, confirming your faith and giving you more things to share with others. Amy Miller
