Daily Dose — The Big Picture, July 15

What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God. Micah 6: 8b As church members, we are part of the larger body of the Christian faith. We support the Christian church as a whole by supporting our local church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. We are called, first and foremost, to love God and others, but also to extend grace and mercy with humility, knowing that the same has been given to us. What an awe-inspiring and challenging privilege! The most amazing thing about this is that God can use us to do incredible things that further His kingdom, just as we are. We don’t have to be 100% sure of ourselves. We can be nervous. We can even be somewhat aimless and unsure of our direction. Thankfully, God doesn’t require that we have it all together. He works mightily through His people who are willing to just step out in faith -- meeting us right where we are and carrying us the rest of the way. What is God calling you to do? How might you better fulfill the vows you made when you joined the church? How can you pray -- for other people, for the church, for the world? How will you be more present -- physically and mentally? What gifts might you share -- even if they’re not yet fully developed? How, when and who will you serve? In what way and to whom will you witness? Make a plan and be sure it includes at least one thing that makes you feel a little nervous -- because that’s the very place your faith will likely grow most. Step out of your comfort zone, expecting that He will meet you there -- and He will -- and then share your experiences to encourage others in their faith walks. Amy Miller
