Daily Dose, Nov 23 — A Psalm for Thanksgiving

The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad. Lord, save us!  Lord, grant us success!  (Psalm 118:22-25)  Do those words sound familiar? If they do, chances are you are remembering when Jesus said them during the last week of his life. After He rode into Jerusalem on the donkey amid shouts of Hosanna, after clearing the temple courts of those who would abuse the sacred space, after the religious leaders over and over questioned Jesus’ power and authority: “Jesus said to them, Have you never read in the scripture” the stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this and it is marvelous in our eyes.”(Matthew 22:42) Well I am Him!  Jesus is the One the psalmist wrote of thousand generations before Jesus was born, the One who would save us. The one whose love for all was so great He would suffer and die so that we could live truly live and have the promise of eternity. In a time of thankfulness, taking time to stop and think about all we have been given, all that Jesus has done for us all- may we all give thanks.  -- Rev. Terri Henkel
