Daily Dose, May 28 — Take Me to the Water

Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:10) Our Lord Jesus made statements that demand our full attention. He claimed that he could give water that bubbles up into eternal life. He had a crucial conversation with a woman at Jacob’s well and said that she would never be thirsty again, if she drank from his water supply. She did not see how in the world Jesus could do any such thing, since he didn’t even have a bucket. She was thinking indoor plumbing. Jesus was talking about the God who held the great outdoors in the palm of His hand. Getting connected to God through a life devoted to Christ quenches our thirst at the deepest level. You will find purpose and meaning through faith in Christ. You will learn that God loves and cares for you beyond your wildest imaginings. You will feel your spirit connected to God’s Spirit, giving you power to overcome the meanest temptations. You will find the inner strength to forgive and love others. You will be led to a life of strong friendships and shared purpose. Jesus still gives bubbling water in an arid world. -- Y’all come, Dr. Don
