Daily Dose, May 26 — Psalms of Ascent

Do you realize what tomorrow is? We wait all week long, day after day waiting, waiting and waiting some more for tomorrow to come, and now it is almost here. Our final psalm from this week’s journey through the Psalms of Ascent puts it this way, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord!’” (Psalm 122:1) Tomorrow we all have the wonderful opportunity to come into “the house of the Lord.” The place has been prepared, a place just for you. Tomorrow we have the chance to come together and worship our God. We get to come and raise our voices as we sing. We get to come and hear God’s Word spoken. We get to come and bring our gifts to the house of the Lord and give them to God. We get to gather together and share with one another the great things God is doing in our life. We get to share with one another our struggles and pray with and for one another. We get to experience the hope, joy, love and mercy that is found in the house of the Lord. We get to come home to God, with brothers and sisters who get to come home too. As we all come home, we celebrate! We celebrate the amazing grace of God that has saved a wretch like us all. We celebrate as we gather. We are the loved children of God. Isn’t it exciting! We get to “go to the house of the Lord” tomorrow. See you there. -- Rev. Terri Henkel
