Daily Dose, May 11 — Early Believers

Keep alert, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love. (1 Corinthians 16:13-14) Here is Paul’s bottom line for the early believers and that bottom line speaks to each generation since. “Keep alert” There are many things in life that can distract you, mislead you and cause you to stumble. So be serious and intentional.“Stand firm” Don’t be swayed by every new fad that comes along. Be so grounded in the truth of the gospel that you stand on a mighty foundation. “Be courageous” Not everyone will like your life of faith. Not everyone will agree. Live as Jesus taught regardless of the opinions of others. “Be strong” You have the power of the most high God in you. Do not fear, do not cower- stand strong! He is with you!!!! “Do everything in love” Let your words and actions always be fueled by your love for Christ. Let love for Him lead and guide all you do.

What was true for the Corinthians remains true for us now and that is the life of faith we live today is important. Not just for us, it is important for our families, our communities and our world. Our lives are not the only ones on the line; our witness impacts our world. How we live out our faith matters; how you live out your faith matters. May we all live our faith in such a way that others want what we have. --Rev. Terri Henkel
