Daily Dose — June 1, Ascending the Psalms

Tomorrow is a special day!  It comes around each and every week.  It is this amazing opportunity to accept His invitation to come into His house.  We are invited to come!  Come and worship, come dine at His holy table, come soak up His Word and be transformed. What a privilege we have to be able to come to His house as often as we can.  What a joy to come together as a family all loving the same Father, all brothers and sisters and children of God.

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”  Our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem.  Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together. To it the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. For there the thrones for judgment were set up, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers.” For the sake of my relatives and friends I will say, “Peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good. (Psalm 122)

“Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Many believe this was written after the Israelites were in exile.  It was during a time when they dreamed of going to the House of the Lord.  It was a hope and dream.  They couldn’t actually go at that time. I can’t imagine what it would be like to not be able to go to the House of the Lord.  Can’t imagine not being able to worship among my brothers and sisters.  Can’t imagine not being able to come to His table.  I simply can’t imagine and am grateful!  Grateful that we can go to the House of the Lord.  What about you? –Rev.
