Daily Dose, Journey to the Holy Spirit — May 31

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:6-8     Daily Dose: Journey to the Holy Spirit   Lions on the prowl for food have a simple but effective tactic: They identify the weakest of the herd, and they try to separate them from the rest. When they are successful, the prey has no chance of survival. Peter gives wise and wonderful counsel to all of us, because he knows we are all in danger of becoming prey. He reminds us to remain humble. Pride comes before a fall. When we get puffed up and our egos inflate; we don’t realize that we’ve actually become spiritually weaker. We are in danger. And the lion knows it. When we are weighed down by anxiety, we no longer make good decisions. We are fearful. We become paralyzed. We become spiritually weaker. We are in danger. And the lion knows it. To stay out of the clutches of the predator? Discipline yourself, and stay alert. There really is a war going on for our souls. We can’t see the armies with our physical eyes, but it doesn’t mean the war isn’t real. Stay alert, and stay with the herd! Rev. Brad Greene
