Daily Dose, Journey to the Holy Spirit — May 24

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall never be shaken. Psalm 62:1-2     Daily Dose: Journey to the Holy Spirit   We’ve all seen the documentaries that show the process of a mother bird providing nourishment to her young chicks. When the mother arrives back at the nest, the mouths of the chicks fling open in hunger and anticipation. They KNOW where their nourishment comes from. And because they know that, their eyes are always looking for the presence of their mother. In the Psalm, the words bring a similar idea to mind. If God truly is our source and our strength, then we should be like those chicks, ever watching for the nourishing presence of God. Do we truly know that HE is the source of our strength and salvation? Those chicks in the nest are helpless to provide their own nourishment. They are not yet ready to move from the nest, and so their options are very limited. Our spiritual situation is different. We are not limited. In fact, we can go in search of our own nourishment, our own sources of strength, our own sense of salvation. And yet we can end up still starving, and more hungry than we were before. Are you truly relying on God for strength and nourishment? Or are you going out in search of your own? Rev. Brad Greene
