Daily Dose, Journey to the Holy Spirit — April 27

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.   Isaiah 40:28-31     Daily Dose: Journey to the Holy Spirit   Security is a good feeling. It sometimes allows us to do things that we wouldn’t do if we didn’t have security. As an example, I LOVE to ride roller coasters. BUT, one of the reasons that I enjoy riding them is because the restraints and harnesses bring a great deal of security. I don’t worry as much about the risk, because I place my trust in the methods of security. Scriptures like this one from Isaiah can act like lap bars and shoulder harnesses. These promises -- and the God whom they describe -- can allow us to roll with the unexpected twists in life. Take a moment to consider something in your life that causes you worry or anxiety. Then, slowly, re-read Isaiah 40 above. Imagine God’s strength and power coming over you, coming around you, hedging you in on all sides. This God doesn’t faint or ever get tired. This God has strength when yours runs out. Rev. Brad Greene
