Daily Dose, Journey to the Holy Spirit — April 24

My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4     Daily Dose: Journey to the Holy Spirit   People sometimes ask me to pray for them. I ask them what I can be praying about. They reply, “Patience.” And I cringe a little. All of us know that patience is a good thing to have. It’s a sign of strong character and a gentle spirit. But we also know that there’s only one real way to get it. Learning patience is a process, and you only get it by going through things that test it. In today’s Scripture, the same idea comes through. We hope and pray for faith. But be careful…because often the only way to get it is to go through things that test it. When you’re tempted, give thanks. That’s testing your faith. Pay attention to the weak point, so that they can be made stronger the next time you’re tempted. Who is the only human who has ever walked who was perfectly mature and complete, lacking in nothing? It was Jesus. If we will endure when our faith is tested in various ways, then we will ultimately be made like Christ - mature and complete, lacking in nothing. Rev. Brad Greene
