Daily Dose, Journey to the Holy Spirit — April 22

Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." Having said this, he breathed his last. Luke 23:46     Daily Dose: Journey to the Holy Spirit   You’ve likely heard the questions: “Who are you? And whose are you?” The goal is usually to push us to consider identifying the driving forces and motivations in our lives. What really makes you tick? Jesus never had to waver with his answer to these questions. Jesus was confident in the answer to both. He displays it even at the point of his physical death. “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” It’s a way of demonstrating Jesus’ unswerving trust in his Father. When his body had been crucified and beaten to the point that all that was really left was his spirit, Jesus entrusted it back to his Father. “It’s all that I have now…and it’s still yours.” May we grow in the love and knowledge of Christ so that we can demonstrate the same unswerving trust. There’s a modern worship chorus that says, “It’s YOUR breath in our lungs, so we pour out our praise.” We return to God what he’s given us. We give the gift of our lives back to him, because it’s always been his. Rev. Brad Greene
