Daily Dose, Dec. 27

Joy is what the Christ child brings to this world. The child grows into a man; a man who changes the world! As we know Him, true joy fills out lives. It is as the psalmist writes, “You show me the path of life. In your presence, there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” -- Psalm 16:11 If your house is like mine, it still has the trappings of Christmas. It wasn’t so long ago that the presents were wrapped under the tree. Now they have been unwrapped and hopefully put to good us. Toys played with, clothes worn and all the other kinds of gifts enjoyed as well. The gifts Jesus gives are far beyond the gifts under the tree. His gifts lead us in a life that is everything He desires it to be and often far beyond our imaginations. He fills our hearts and lives and joy, true joy, is born within us. It is a joy that is deep seeded and inspires hope and courage in the circumstances of life. As we take down the tree and all the lights and pack them away until next year, may we not pack away the wonderful gifts the babe in the manger brought into this world. May we cling tightly to the peace of God, the love of God and the joy of Almighty God this day and every day!
