Who likes fruit? My favorite fruit would have to be a tie between a pink lady apple, a sweet pineapple or fresh blueberries. I love fruit! Growing up, we had fruit trees in our backyard; a pomegranate tree, lemon and lime tree and even an avocado tree (not sure if that is considered a fruit or not). Fruit is definitely one of God’s great creations, right along with the first cup of coffee in the morning, beautiful beaches and a star filled sky! It is great how the Apostle Paul takes something like fruit and uses it to describe the life of someone who loves Jesus and is filled with the Holy Spirit.
“…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” ' -- Galatians 5:22-23 To take Paul’s metaphor, we could easily ask our self “How fruity am I?” How much does: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control describe us? Would others say I am filled with joy? These are the gifts that were given, the closer we follow Jesus the more of Him is seen in us. So it really begs the question, How fruity are you? Rev.
