Daily Dose, Dec. 25: Advent

Today we celebrate that great day God Incarnate came to a world in such desperate need, a world wrought with darkness. We rejoice because THE light has come. John tells us “What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” John 1:3b-5 Joy to the World the Lord has come. Let earth receive her king, let every heart prepare him room and nature sing, and heaven and nature sing…. We celebrate as we look to the manger and we see the hope of all humanity wrapped in swaddling clothes with Mary and Joseph looking at this precious child and they are filled with the knowledge that this is what the Angle Gabriel told them. Here is the One the prophets foretold, the One promised, the long-awaited Messiah. All of creation rejoices at the birth of Emmanuel, God with us. Together we sing “Joy to the World, the Lord has come- let earth receive her king.” Today may you and those you love to bask in the glow of the Light of Christmas that glorious day when the true light came and through whom darkness has been defeated! JOY TO THE WORLD, THE LORD HAS COME!!! Rev. Terri Henkel
