Then will I ever sing praise to your name and fulfill my vows day after day. (Psalm 61:8)

I came into ministry through the “musician door.” I was raised in the Methodist Church — even had a preacher’s kid for a boyfriend in eighth grade! However it was as a young adult that I began to grow in my faith after I began working as a choir director at a small church. After several years of discipleship groups and Bible study, I came to understand what it means to put Christ first in my life.

Putting Christ first meant making HIM, not the house note, the kids, the orthodontics, etc., first.

Putting Christ first meant trusting that HIS faithfulness will be enough at times when you just don’t think there will be enough.

I am a very blessed woman. I have a wonderful job and family. But I have been a single mom. My husband and I have experienced tragedy in the family and dealt with a troubled child and many of life’s hardships. Our faith saw us through.

We have come to understand that spending daily time in devotion and prayer, worshiping first, and giving HIM your first fruits is the way to find peace and joy in life and in HIM. — Barbara Holbrook, Director of Music
