Christian and Angelica Dickson serve with the Mission Society in Paraguay. Christian grew up as a member of the Alpharetta Methodist family. He maintains close relationships with many members of the congregation, who look forward to occasional visits by Christian and Angelica, and their daughters Camilla and AnnaBelen.

The Dicksons operate the Suzanna Wesley School in the town of Yrubucua, about 130 miles outside of the capital city of Asuncion. Angelica’s knowledge of the Guarani language allows her to share the love of Christ with the local children and with families in the area. The Dicksons also work to develop youth programs in local Methodist churches throughout the country.

Christian also runs an Agrimission program near Yrubucua. In this rural area, nearly all of the residents are small farmers. The Agrimission program is a small farm resource center that focuses on agricultural experiments to improve the local farming practices. In addition to “experimenting” with new crops that provide improved nutrition for the local people, cooking classes are combined with Bible studies to help local women develop relationships and learn how to cook new foods, such as squash.

Alpharetta Methodist supports the Dickson’s mission work through the Christian Dickson Fund and with annual mission trips.

Financial contributions can be made online or by writing a check to AFUMC and designating “Dicksons in Paraguay” on the memo line. You may drop your check in the offering plate any Sunday.
