Children’s Choirs Nativity

Sunday, December 3
4 p.m.

Seeing the Nativity through the eyes of a child will lead you to the true meaning of Christmas. Join us for this annual presentation by the Alpharetta Methodist Children’s Choirs. Children age 3 through 3rd grade, in character as the Wise Men, shepherds, cherubs and wooly lambs, will recreate the story of the first Christmas.

Nursery available.

Children's Choirs Nativity

Alpharetta Methodist offers a comprehensive choir program for children from age two through 5th grades. The Children’s Music Program is designed to encourage children to grow in faith, serve in worship and praise through song.

Singing provides the foundation for all of our children’s choirs. Part of every rehearsal is spent learning new songs, reviewing favorite songs and, in the younger choirs, playing singing games. Our goal is to help each child find his or her own unique voice. We believe the ability to “sing your praise” helps children express their faith and share in the joy of worship.

Children in choir also play rhythm instruments and participate in movement activities. They learn new musical and social skills, sing during worship services and participate in church-wide programs like the Children’s Nativity and Children’s All Music Sundays. Our older choirs prepare musicals and other special programs.

Registering for Children’s Choirs

All registrations must be made online.

Rehearsals will be held on Wednesday evenings, starting September 13.

  • 2-year-old through kindergarten choirs meet from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
  • 1st-5th grade choirs meet from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m.

Please note: If you register after 8:00 on a Wednesday morning, please bring your child to the Choir Help Desk on the second floor landing of Trinity Hall prior to the start of choir rehearsal to pick up a name badge and your child’s choir assignment.

Music is a wonderful way to teach kids how to follow Jesus and spread His love. Children who participate in choir develop self-confidence as they learn new musical and social skills, sing for worship and participate in the annual Children’s Nativity and Children’s All Music Sunday.

We offer choirs for different age groups, for children age two (by September 1) through 5th grade. You do not have to be a church member to join our children’s music program.

Participation in AFUMC’s children’s choirs is free.

  • Choir Cross
Each new child to our choir program, three years old or older, needs a wooden choir cross. A $5 one-time fee helps defray the cost of the cross. Read about the Cross Program.  Scholarships are available, if needed.
  • Choir T-shirt
Each age group choir wears a specific color T-shirt, so all children participating in the choir program need a T-shirt. New shirts are available for $10. We will have used and previous year T-shirts available for $2 to $5 at the Children’s Choir Registration and Kick-Off Party on August 27. Many families pass the shirts down to all of their children, so we always have a mix of designs. The colors assigned to each age group do not change. Please contact Cindy Poelking, if you have questions.Scholarships are available, if needed. Click here to identify what color shirt your child needs.

Payment for T-shirts and Choir Crosses may be made online during the registration process, or you may mail a check to:
