Disciple 1 is foundational and is a prerequisite for the other studies. Beyond Disciple 1, studies may be taken in any order. We will offer the following classes this fall:

Disciple 3: Remember Who You Are

Wednesdays, Aug. 21-April 22
9:15-11:15 a.m.,
Rm. SC 6B (in the Student Center)

In the Old Testament Prophets and the Letters of Paul, Disciple 3 examines the connection between memory and identity as the people of God. Daily readings and reflection (about 30 minutes per day) help group members prepare for each week’s session. Prerequisite: Disciple 1.

Disciple: Jesus in the Gospels

Wednesdays, Aug. 21-April 22
6:30-8 p.m.
Rm. 226

The overarching aim of this course is to deepen discipleship through better understanding of the biblical texts and their message. The study helps group members understand that Jesus is rooted in Judaism and the Scriptures of Judaism and that Christianity and the New Testament are rooted in the Scriptures of Judaism — our Old Testament.  Prerequisite: Disciple 1.

Join us for supper before the class. See menus and make reservations here.

More courses in the Disciple Bible Study series. Watch for class dates in the fall of 2020.

Disciple 1

Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study

The first Disciple Bible study serves as the basis for all other studies in the Disciple family that follow. Over the course of 34 weeks, Disciple 1 covers the entire Bible (Old and New Testaments), following the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem. Daily readings and reflection (about 30 minutes per day) help group members prepare for each week’s session.

Disciple 1 FastTrack

Disciple 1 Fast Track, an adaptation of the original, bestselling Disciple 1 Bible Study, provides a viable option for busy people.

Disciple 2

Into the Word, Into the World

This 32-week study offers a deeper examination of Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts, emphasizing the rhythm of coming to God and going for God — approaching all experiences of life as opportunities for faithful witness and service. Prerequisite: Disciple 1.

Disciple 4: Under the Tree of Life

Wednesdays, Aug. 21-May 6
9:30-11:30 a.m.
Rm. 308

The phrase “under the tree of life” conveys the promise of finding shelter, security and rest in God’s love. In this 32-week study of the Old Testament writings, the Gospel of John, and Epistles of John, James, Jude and, finally, Revelation, group members will see the entire process of living toward final completion of rest and reward. About 30 minutes of daily reading and prep. Prerequisite: Disciple 1.
