6th grade students and their parents are invited to participate in Confirmation. Parents will have their own class, which runs alongside the students’ class. We hope the entire family will walk this road of growing in faith together.

Parent Connection Progressive Dinner

Methodist Youth Center
February 23
6:30-8:30 p.m.

Cost: $15 per couple

Come and join us for a progressive three-course dinner. Parents in similar life stages will be able to discuss and share parenting ideas, concerns and possible solutions. As you move from location to location, you’ll change up seating to meet more parents involved in the Roots Student Ministry community.

Get into the discussion. You may find that you have a lot more in common with other parents than you knew.

March 2-4

Cost: $30 per student

Human Sexuality; God’s way.

Some subjects are sensitive. We get that. God created us as sexual beings, so he must have a plan for that, right? Over this weekend retreat, we’ll discuss the physical, mental and spiritual landscape around human sexuality in an age-appropriate way. We’ll invite parents into the conversation as well.

Parent discussion and parent class included.

Spring Retreat 2017: Me3rd

Camp Highland, Ellijay, Ga.
March 17-19, 2017

Cost: $165
$50 deposit required at registration.

This is going to be a great time away with fun, friends, activities, learning and worship. God, others, me… For a couple of days, we’ll examine Jesus’ call to place God and others before ourselves and look at how we actually pull that off in 2017.

Come and experience the rich history behind the Passover meal. Reserve your spot for a powerful night of worship, food and teaching. This is the real Passover deal and will be led by our friends from Temple Beth Hallel in Roswell.

Beach Retreat 2017: Extraordinary

Cost: $200 if registered by Sunday, March 26.
$225 for registrations after March 26 and before Sunday, April 30.

VBS Volunteer Training and Pizza Dinner

Because Vacation Bible School is such a transformational ministry program, all volunteers are required to attend and complete a training session. We’ll make it fun and informational, and we’ll feed you too! Does it get any better?

VBS 2017

June 12-15

Come and be a volunteer or team leader, as we help to support Alpharetta Methodist’s Children’s Ministry in one of our biggest outreach missions for the year.

Each morning, the Roots Student Ministry will host a breakfast devotion for all Student Ministry volunteers. Be sure to join us for that. It’s a great way to start the morning.

Volunteer registration will begin on February 27.

Bowling and Lunch

Roswell Lanes

Sometimes the summer just drags on. Come and catch up with friends, throw some strikes and have some lunch. It’s always great to just get together. Meet at Roswell Lanes. Students must provide their own transportation and lunch money. Pay when you arrive.

Laser Show at Stone Mountain

Cost $10

It’s a southern tradition. Join us for a picnic, some Frisbee and a great time hanging out in community. This is just plain fun that you don’t want to miss.

Campout and Zip Line: High School Students

Lula, Ga.
July 14-15

Cost: $100

Spend Friday night hanging out at a camp fire and then sleep in a teepee. On Saturday, have some breakfast and then head out for two hours of zip lining on a great course.

Meals and transportation are included; disc golf is optional and an additional $7 per person.

Wetumpka Mission  Project 2017

July 16-21
Wetumpka, Alabama

Cost: $200
$50 deposit due at registration.

We’re excited to partner with YouthWorks again this year. Wetumpka, Alabama, is a small community just about 10 miles north of Montgomery, right on the Coosa River. It’s home to around 6,500 people.

Through the week, we’ll facilitate a kids club at a local church, participate in work projects and serve with organizations seeking to meet the needs of the community.

Space is limited to 35 students, so sign up early.

Kayak the Chestatee

July 27
9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Dahlonega, Ga.

Cost: $40
$20 deposit required at registration.

Come out and kayak down a remote, lazy river. Afterward, we’ll enjoy a cookout before returning to civilization. Be sure to invite a friend into the student community.
