Dress For Success

This bi-annual event (spring and fall) involve the collection and sorting of gently-used female clothing, suitable for job interviews, to be delivered to Dress for Success in downtown Atlanta. Contact: Pam Baker or Beth Sturhahn. 

 

One day each year is set aside for the membership of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church to join together in a day of community service. We gather for breakfast and worship with the congregation of St. James United Methodist Church and then perform service projects in the community such as yard clean-up, painting, repairs, and food/clothing sorting. For anyone interested in teaching adults to read or speak English. These classes are constructed for the tutor and the learner to meet once or twice a week for 1 ½ to 2 hour sessions. A “chat class” is offered monthly for all tutors and learners to participate. Materials are provided for classroom use, and training workshops are offered for prospective tutors. Project Patriot

Send boxes of items to wounded soldiers in the american Landstuhl Hospital in Germany. New items may be dropped in the marked basket in the lobby of Trinity Hall. Old bank statements, tax returns, old files, etc. Bring them to Alpharetta Methodist for shredding, only 75 cents a pound. All proceeds go towards funding the Mozambique Mission Team. The next shredding date is Saturday, April 24, 2010, from 8:00 am - 12:00 noon, rain or shine.

Tiny Stitches

Volunteers sew, knit, crochet and distribute packaged layettes for needy babies of North Georgia. Meetings are held the second Saturday of the month from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. No experience necessary. Contact Renee Sassaman, (770) 754-5543.
