Homeschoolers of Alpharetta

Thank you so much for your interest in Homeschoolers of Alpharetta. We are an open organization with members from the community of Alpharetta, North Fulton, and surrounding areas. Homeschoolers of Alpharetta is a ministry of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church and is a Christian organization that upholds the Christian lifestyle and beliefs, but we welcome families who do not currently share our faith.

Our group began in 2003, and our purpose is to encourage families who homeschool in our community and provide fun activities for homeschooled children.

Please email dmule18@gmail.com if you have more questions.

Before joining we encourage and invite you to attend one of our events. We want you to make sure HA is a good fit for you and your family. Once you decide to join, application for membership is made annually and is valid August until the end of the following July. In order to be placed on the email loop, you must officially join the group.

Membership

Application for membership will be made annually to HA and runs August 1 through July 31.

1. Fill out the application and send in your membership dues. Annual dues are $15 and are made payable to:

     Homeschoolers of Alpharetta
     Attn: Deedee Muehlbauer
     3120 Monroe Way
     Alpharetta, GA 30004

Families joining between November 1 and March 1 pay $7 and membership is valid through the end of July. Families joining March 1 through June 1 pay $20 and membership carries through the end of the following July. You can download an application by clicking on the link, HA membership application. If you have questions, please email dmule18@gmail.com.

2. Alpharetta 1st UMC is a safe sanctuary so all adults working with children on the church campus are required to attend a Child Youth Protection training and complete a background check. Each year you will have to review the requirements for working with the children, but will not need a background check after the initial one is complete.

3. You will be asked to coordinate two activities during the year. One activity should be a party or event at the church. For the other event, choose a Friday with nothing planned and get the details for a field trip.

Park Days

We have a weekly park day at Wacky World at Wills Park from 2 pm to 4 pm. This is the best time to come and meet some of the families

Special Events or Parties

We hold parties for special times of the year like Christmas, Valentine’s, and Easter. We also have other fun events like a fall festival, family fun day, and more for the whole family to enjoy...Dads too!

Field Trips

On the weeks we do not have a special event or party, we go on a field trip. Our field trips have included: the fire station, The Rock Ranch, the governor's mansion, Cane Creek Farm, Amicalola Falls and more.

Game Day

On Thursdays we meet at the church from 2-4 pm. The first hour the students participate in student-led activities like games, skits, and art. The second hour is for PE or the playground. If your child would like to do PE, you will be placed on a rotation to lead PE. There is an instructional book for ideas and some supplies provided.

Homeschoolers of Alpharetta - Teens

In Fall 2008 the teen group was formed. We're looking forward to it growing!
