Special Needs Ministry
|
At Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, we believe all children are a gift from God. For families of children with special needs, our Loving HANDS ministry offers
Hope, Acceptance, iNclusion, Dignity, and Support
Our goal is to ensure each child feels loved and accepted in our church family. We want every family who has a child with a special need to be able to worship and fully participate in the activities of this church.
At a family’s request we will provide a buddy to help a child participate in our Sunday morning children’s activities while the parent(s) and/or sibling(s) are involved in their own Sunday School or worship. It is our desire that each and every child knows the love of Jesus Christ. In order to arrange Loving HANDS for your child, please contact Special Needs Coordinator Marjan Holbrook.
Family Date Nights
Families with Special Needs children are invited to take advantage of Date Night. We will be providing free childcare for children with special needs and their siblings in room 149 of the Trinity Building, usually from 5 to 8 p.m. Staff and volunteers with special needs experience will be on hand for an evening of projects, play and fun. Upcoming dates include:
February 11
March 10
Facebook Support Group
Our new Facebook support group, facebook.com/groups/afumcspecialneeds, is a great resource for families of children with special needs. Look to this page for information about AFUMC's Special Needs Ministry, tips about community activities for special needs families, and support from other parents and caregivers.
