Preschool age clarification
Class assignment is determined by each child’s age on or before September 1st of the current school year:
- 3 year olds must be three on or before September 1, 2016.
- 4 year olds must be four on or before September 1, 2016.
At Alpharetta Methodist, we use Fulton County School District’s cut-off dates to determine class placement for children ages 3 and older. Children remain in the nursery until they move as a group to the 3-year old Sunday School class on Kickoff Sunday, which is scheduled on the Sunday before the first day of Fulton County School District’s new school year.
Children who are in Sunday School should be potty trained (no diapers or pull-ups). As stated in our Child Youth and Protection Policies, teachers are not allowed to assist the children in the restrooms. Only paid nursery staff has authorization to change diapers or pull-ups. If children are not fully potty trained, they should remain in the nursery.
Promotion to a new grade level
All children remain in their age/grade-level class throughout the school year. Children are promoted to the next grade level on Kickoff Sunday, which is scheduled on the Sunday before the first day of Fulton County School District’s new school year. Promotion Sunday 2016 is August 7.
