Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Alpharetta Methodist?

Alpharetta First United Methodist Church is located at 69 North Main Street in downtown Alpharetta. Our church campus is one block north of City Hall. See map and directions.

Where do I park?

Our main parking lot is located behind the church, accessible from Cumming Street. Parking attendants are on duty on Sunday mornings to help you find a parking place and show you where to enter the Sanctuary. Guest parking spaces are located close to the Sanctuary.

Parking for persons with special needs is available in our North Main Street parking lot.

Overflow parking is available next door at the Methodist Youth Center, 59 North Main Street.

See a map of available parking.

How do I find my way?

Look for a Welcome Desk when you enter. Welcome Team volunteers will be there on Sunday mornings, ready to help you and your family find your way around the church.
Welcome Desks are located in the lobby of Trinity Hall and outside the narthex of the Sanctuary.

What do I wear?

When you come to worship on Sunday morning, please dress comfortably. Some of our attendees wear “Sunday best,” but most wear more comfortable clothes. Don’t worry about what you wear – just come to worship God and get to know us.

What do I bring?

Each of our worship services is Bible-based. While Bibles are provided in the Sanctuary pews for your convenience, you may wish to bring your own Bible.

When do I need to arrive?

Sunday morning worship services begin at 8:15, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday School is offered at those same times. You should plan to arrive at the church about 15 minutes ahead of the worship service or class you wish to attend, to allow ample time for parking and walking to the Sanctuary, Vinebranch Chapel or Sunday School classroom.

See a map of our two sanctuaries.

What do I do with my children?

Our children’s ministries are fun and exciting, and kids love going to the various activities offered at the church. Our Children’s Ministries staff genuinely cares about kids and is committed to help them learn about God and what the Bible has to say about life.

Greeters at our Welcome Desks will assist you in getting your children to a nursery or class.

What about my teenager?

We believe teenagers are people of great value and that they will have a significant impact on the future of the church and our world. The Roots Youth Ministry has its own facility (the Methodist Youth Center), a praise band, meetings that are fun and helpful, and leaders who are committed to helping teens know the love of God.

What about security for my children?

Alpharetta Methodist is serious about the security of every child and youth who participates in our programs. Our nursery is staffed by paid staff and volunteers. Everyone working with nursery age, children and youth is required to go through our Child/Youth Protection Training, which includes training sessions and a background check by a professional agency.

Read more about Child/Youth Protection Training.

Parents of children in the nursery are given a restaurant-style pager in case they are needed while their child is in the nursery. No one is allowed to take a child from the nursery or children’s program unless previously signed by the parents.

How do I get involved?

Are you ready for your next step? Consider attending the four-week DISCOVER class where you can learn more about United Methodist Church, Alpharetta Methodist, worship and Sunday morning small groups, as well as ministries and membership. The class will give you an opportunity to meet ministry leaders, who stop in to introduce themselves and their ministries. Senior Pastor Dr. Don Martin also visits DISCOVER to get to know class members and have a sausage biscuit.

DISCOVER classes meet on most Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. in the church library. There is no cost, and registration is now required.

See the DISCOVER class schedule.
